Other Specialist Bodies and Interest Groups

BSCNThe British Society of Clinical Neurophysiology
The BSCN is a medical charity whose aims, set out in our articles of association, are: “to promote and encourage for the public benefit the science and practice of clinical neurophysiology and related sciences”.

NMUKNeuromonitoring UK
Neuromonitoring UK is a special interest group formed in January 2009 led by Christine Reber with members principally from a background in Neurophysiology or Medical Physics/Bioengineering. These Health Service Professionals monitor and map the nervous system during specific surgical procedures to help identify when it is at risk. The goal is to prevent post-operative neurological complications in operations such as instrumentation of the spine for scoliosis correction, and removal of space occupying lesions in the brain and spinal cord.

OSETThe International Organisation of Societies for Electrophysiological Technology
The purpose of OSET is to strive, in all countries, to promote education and the attainment of the highest level of knowledge and understanding in the field of Electrophysiological Technology in so far as such activities shall be of a wholly non-profit making nature. The term Electrophysiological Technology shall cover all aspects of technology applied to the above.

The Science CouncilThe Science Council
The Science Council provides the quality assurance system for those working in science. We set the standards for professional registration for practising scientists and science technicians, across all scientific disciplines. Scientists that meet our standards may use the designation CSci, CSciTeach, RSci or RSciTech after their name.
The Science Council is also a membership organisation made up of professional bodies and learned societies from across the full range of science based disciplines.
